Not just about pressing the shutter release button!

Photography is the scienceart and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film. Well, today that’s just one of the steps entire process, photography has evolved into a lot more than just capturing the image. Being in the industry for the last two years has totally changed my perspective of what I thought it would be like. This is a post that goes out to all budding photographers who often ask professionals like about what it’s like to shoot such beautiful women in a stunning location all decked up with amazing designer cloths or how does it feel to be sitting at the back of a speeding jeep shooting a beautiful unreleased sports bike. This small post is dedicated to all those people who told me ‘Its all about just pressing the shutter release button’

The entire process starts of with sending out your work to all prospective clients who you think would use your services. It can be anybody starting from a tea stall to a flashy magazine like Vogue. This process alone can take anything from 2-3 months to really get in touch with the concerned person, convince them that you are here to deliver stunning images in a given time frame assuring him that you are consistent in your quality of work. After rejections you may have that one person who is willing to give you a try. That is the biggest test of all the efforts you may have put in from the moment you discovered the camera to the first big shoot.Once the job has been received and negotiations made, you start to organise things such as a shoot location, models, make up and hair artists, costume designers, etc. in the case of a people/fashion shoot. The negotiations between your artists and the client for prices could itself again bring you back to square one if it doesn’t fit the precise budget and specifications of the client. On the day of a shoot, a photographer handles everything from making sure the entire team is coordinated and brought to one place where there are good facilities of food, shelter and safety.Once the shoot has been done and everybody returns back , the next step is a week lengthy one. It usually starts off with the selection of images which is a task by itself. After which the final selects are colour corrected and photoshopped if required.Once ready , you finally have here your first paid photoshoot wholly organised and run by you for a person who was at first just paying for your skill. It’s a great feeling when you work through your first paid photoshoot. It’s an addictive feeling which makes you want to do it more and more often, along with the passion that really is the key ingredient to drive you as a photographer, I personally love the entire process we as photographers take our team through to bring out the best from our images.Passion, determination, positivity, punctuality, devotion, respect and honesty are definitely a few qualities without with it would be difficult to sustain as a photographer , or any other professional for that matter.Below are a few behind the scene videos and images of the craziness and fun my team and I go through during shoots. I’m sure after reading this, many doubts would have been cleared and questions, answered!
